The Junior Liffey Descent this year is due to take place on Saturday 24th May starting at 1pm from Salmon Leap Canoe Club and finishing at ICU Training Centre. As usual rescue will be needed on the day and I am looking for volunteers on the day. For the past few years Rockhoppers have provided rescue at Lucan Weir and LIR have covered Wrens Nest with further volunteers on Shackletons and at Sluice and with the sweep. Can I ask you on behalf of your respective clubs to see if you can organise volunteers. As this is a very important event on the Canoe Union calendar as it aims to give younger paddlers a chance to undertake a challenging experience. In order to encourage many young people to participate it is vitally important that there should be good rescue cover on the river. Please let me know if you can help. Conor

All you need is rope, good footwear, dry pants or something to keep warm while standing in the water I'm also told shin pads can be good. One or 2 can bring boats are all if you want to do a run the river after the sweeper has relieved you all.
Cheers Niall

anybody want to paddle when the sweeper passes, lucan to wrens maybe, if so we'll need 2 organize a shuttle! maybe the bad bend 4 12ish as i believe we hav 2 b in position at 1pm. thermal leggings mite b needed as we mite b standing n the water 4 a while, also we'll need at least 2 boats as some juniors are planning 2 do the high drop and not just the chicken run
