Hi All, Hope y'all had fun last night.
Anyone want to join me tomorrow?
I'm planning to do 10 miles on the Blessington Lakes - about 2 hours of paddling.
- I'm getting some practice in for next week's marathon on the Shannon - I need to see if I'm fit enough for the 17 miles!
Planned put-in at 10am (option for 2pm or 6pm) - Meet 30mins before, in Blessington village - Look for boats on a roof!
Probably 'Putting-in' at the Haylands bridge (near blessington village) and doing a round trip to the Poulaphouca Dam.
I've have 2 spare long boats for anyone who's up for it!
Get me on 086-8458614 & let me know if u need a boat.
Weather forecast is: partially cloudy/ overcast; the wind will be at force 3, (maybe up to force 4 - not forecast though), which will make for a 'breeze' down to the dam but a tiring paddle back, especially the last 2 miles. Temp: 16 Deg - hopefully stowing cags in the boats. Possibility of very heavy rain showers - be prepared!
Exposure to wind, cold & rain on the lakes must be considered when packing your gear bag - Again, Be prepared!
Oh, and bring some food, & drinks.
The scenery from the lakes is dramatic & beautiful and changes as you round each corner - thought you'd like to know!

Grand - Meeting in Blessington Village, 9.20am-ish. OK, I'm 'Webless' from 3.20pm today until after the weekend so all are welcome to come along tomorrow - All my long boats are 'booked' so beg, borrow or steal - Of course, you can do it in a creeker, if you want a real workout. Anyone in a creeker make sure to have at least one buddy with you - otherwise it'll be a lonely day. Re: the weather: I'm packing everything from t-shirt & sun-block to thermals & dry-suit. Ronan: Thongs optional!
