Alright folks.
We think this year will be a busy one for the club so we’ll be having quite regular gatherings of the Committee. I’m glad to report that we’re financially sound, have a good number of new members (welcome ye all) and will get a good year of trips organised this year, with some fine weekends away, with the Grand Canyon on the horizon to look forward to.
So from our meeting last night, a couple of items of interest for you.
SOCIAL EVENTS
Niall will post up more on this, but we agreed that at the beginning of each month (probably the first Thursday) when we are all not yet totally skint, that we’d have a social gathering - the first one being in town.
TRIP ORGANISING
Clara will re-issue a trip organiser list soon. The good news is we’ll all get a chance to organise a club Sunday trip, decide where we go, time we meet and what section we’ll run. For our new members, you’ll get a chance to organise the trips as well (don’t worry - we won’t have you doing all this on your own in the early days). If anyone can’t make a weekend that you are down for, then it’s your responsibility to swop it with someone else in good time.
TIMEKEEPING
I see we are all enjoying the long lazy days of summer, but with winter round the corner and the dark nights a-coming, this will mean shorter river days. So we should be looking at making more of an effort to get into the good habit of all meeting up on time. From now on when times are posted for trips, these are to be the times for moving to the start line and running the shuttle, so 11am at Stackallen means getting there at 10.45am to get changed and ready and will mean less faffing around and getting on the water quicker.
SAFETY TRAINING DAY
We can all do with safety training, so Niall has kindly agreed to host a fun and frisky safety day for the club on Sunday 26th July. Keep your diaries free. The Committee encourages you all to come along. Niall will post up more details.
All the best for now
